Brain Wash - Art Print
This poster is a fictional ad for a non-existent (for now) product. It calls attention to capitalist societies’ quick-fix, productized approach to coping with valid mental discomfort. We live in a society in which the medicine-industrial complex urges people to try these quick fixes, such as pills, instead of making longitudinal and sustainable care practices accessible. While anxiety is common and valid, and medicine is a viable option for many, I also illustrated this fictional 'overthinking' "solution" to exemplify rampant 'self-diagnosis', part of a late-stage capitalist mindset that pathologizes even slight deviances from the "ideal" state of unattainable productivity.
My decision to create this piece in Illustrator rather than a studio medium also highlights this capitalist mindset of productizing; whereas a painting can contain more of an artists' thumbprint, and is not as easily reproducible, the nature of digital art lends itself easily to reproduction and distribution....which also conveniently the reason you'd be able to grab a print for both you and a friend, if you wanted to :)
Available in both Glossy and Matte versions.
